Hi Bill!

  1. Which exact Module and Unit are you following?
  2. Did you select the right baud rate in the Arduino IDE serial monitor window? 
  3. Can you copy and paste to the forum the exact messages that appear in your serial monitor

It was a problem with the baud rate. Bill had to select the 115200 baud rate in the Arduino IDE serial monitor.
