Basic switch question

I would like to add an IP65 lighted SPST rocker switch to a IP65 contained solar-powered esp32 circuit.  Most of the switches I see are rated as 12v 20-25a (marine type).  What are my options if the switch will go into the positive side of a 3.7v Li-ion battery?  How are switch ratings interpreted?

Hi.

I’m sorry for taking so long to get back to you.

The 12V rating is the maximum voltage that the switch can handle—the same for the current rating.
I’m not very familiar with using that kind of switch on circuits for ESP32 or Arduino.
But, I think that even though it might not be ideal, you can use them in your circuit. Before using it in the actual final circuit, I would test one with a power supply and a multimeter to check if you’re getting the voltage you would expect on the output.

Regards,
Sara
