Hi this is related to my problem with not having the right board and the camera tutorial. . .
It would seem something is wrong . the board is identical to the “AI thinker” board . . the pins have the same label .the camera is the right one.
The code in the tutorial has three options . .if I select the AI thinker option . I get nothing the board will not connect to the arduino . . if I select either of the other two board options . it does connect and the ESP board boot but then says . . .”Camera init failed with error 0x20001″
Either the camera is ****ed! or there is some software error . . oh what fun!!!
Hi.
What code are you trying to run? Do you have the AI-thinker module or other board?
I’ve searched for a while, and that error means that the camera is not connected properly. It may be a problem with the camera. You may have to change the camera probe.
Meanwhile, you can read this: https://github.com/espressif/esp32-camera/issues/5 and see if something works for you.

HI there, I did find that page and I think it does relate to my problem.
I have sent of to China for a board with the correct markings.
I am not really familiar with the ESP32 and am enjoying working through the tutorial.
It’s going well . It is a good introduction to these devices. They really are amazing!!
All the best Nick
Thank you.
Once you’ve received your new camera, let me know if you can make it work.
I hope you’re enjoying our ESP32 course.
Regards,
Sara
Hello there . .
Yes I certainly will let you know how my new camera module works.
Finding your ESP32 course very interesting. I never knew such devices existed. and they are Low cost.
Waiting for post from China now takes the most time .
Regards Nicholas
Ok.
Let me know then.
Meanwhile, if you have other questions, you just need to open a new question on the forum.

It is not connecting to my wi-fi . . could be any number of things . .this stuff is too frustrating to work with . .there are nicer things to do with time . . have a pleasant day . and good luck with your tutorials . .
Hi . .sorry for being a little negative in my last response. . these are interesting devices. But they are not working “out of the box” for me . . with my limited knowledge I can see there is some “work” needed to debug them . .
so . . take it easy . . and have a pleasant day .
Hi.
It’s ok. Don’t worry. I understand that things can be a bit frustration sometimes.
I’m sorry that you’re facing some issues with your ESP32-CAM. Our board worked straight out of the box, so it is very difficult for us to understand what may be wrong.
However, some of our readers are reporting the same problem as yours. I don’t know what can be wrong. We’re still trying to figure out if the newer boards have some sort of defect or something.
We’ve just ordered a new board, and we’ll see if it works as our first one, or if it has a defect or something and how we can solve that.

Sara
Hi there . . no worries!! . . .great to hear I am not the only one . .
I am having no problems with the other projects, and there is quite a lot of content in the tutorial .excellent
cheers
PS I did post about a problem with the “internet button project” . using ESP8266 board .
I think the problem is 100% that I cannot get the applet to work with my gmail account. It is very simple to create on the IFTT website so i cannot see how you can go wrong with it . .
I will let you know sometime if I succeed . . o k . . no worries . .just thought would tell you I could not get it to work . .
