Should “HTTP” be changed to “HTTPS” when filling in the “Route Traffic for home automation” form?
Bottom of page shows ‘https’ in the example URLs.
Page 403, bottom of page. HTTP is selected for the form. Bottom of page 404 shows ‘https’ in the example URLs.
I tried selecting ‘https’ for both subdomains but https addresses would not resolve. Selecting http worked fine.
And when I connect with the subdomains after having selected the HTTP option, a click in my browser’s URL address bar reveals the address starting with ‘ https://nodered ‘ or ‘https://influxdb’ So I guess selecting HTTP in the Cloudflare setup is correct, and HTTPS should not be selected??
Hello Bruce
Exactly… The instrutions in the eBook are correct. In Clouflare you must select HTTP, because your local installation of Node-RED and InfluxDB are in HTTP mode.
However, Cloudflare creates an encrypted connection on top of that, so when accessing your domain is automatically assigned an SSL certifcate by Cloudflare and you type https:// in your domain.
I hope this helps!
