I would like to use ESP Now to save battery. However, the wireless signal might have need to pass through concrete floor between upstair 3rd floor ,and down stair first floor. Can ESP now protocol do this? external antenna? or do I need TCP/IP with web server communication?

The protocol itself can do that. You would almost certainly need an external antenna. As every situation is different you will have to try it yourself to see what kind of range you get.

Hi.
As Steve mentioned, you have to try it yourself and see if it is able to communicate. Adding an external antenna might help.

Hi Peerajak,

You can also use several intermediate ESP nodes between the source and the destination of the information you want to convey, to extend the reach of your network, without necessarily needing an external antenna. Each intermediate node simply relays the information to its neighbor. The ESP-NOW protocol is very fast and perfectly suited for this. This way you can cover the whole house, on all floors and carry information from the attic to the basement!

Implementation is very simple 😉
