Hi Rui

Can you share the idea how to make esp/arduino board compatible with z-wave device.

Also I am expecting a detailed tutorial on effective full scale home automation architecture and implementation with Raspberry pi+ arduino/esp  with wired and wireless network..

Hi.
To be honest, I’m not familiar with Z-wave protocol and I wasn’t able to find any information about that with ESP32 and very little information with the Arduino.
I think that to be able to control Z-wave devices with the ESP32 or Arduino, they both need to be connected to the same gateway. Then, the gateway implements the automation.
At the moment, we’re not planning making tutorials about this topic.
Sorry that I can’t help much.
Regards,
Sara

I truly appreciate you supporting our work by enrolling in our courses.

We try to help as much as we can: if we have the devices or components to experiment with, a snippet of code that we wrote that can help, or post a link that we know that might help.

However, at the moment we can’t do custom coding or project requests. Can you give us a bit more information?
What devices would you like to control with z-wave?

And what home automation platform do you use?

You can connect a z-wave dongle to Raspberry Pi and Home Assistant will find the devices. Then, you can make automations based on the messages received.

Here is an example of creating a z-wave hub on your RPi: https://raspberrypihq.com/how-to-create-a-z-wave-smart-home-hub-using-a-raspberry-pi/

We don’t own any Z-Wave devices. They are not very popular where we live.

I hope you understand.

Regards,
Sara

Thanks for your answer.

I hope I can manage third party protocol like zigbee can implement through Node-Red or Home assistant.

Currently I am planning to connect sonoff devices through a common platform like Node-red. And I know sonoff basic will work with NODE-RED if it flashes with any other firmware like tasmotta.

I would like to know is it possible connect these sonoff devices through NODE-RED. As I know this is not a NODE-RED forum, but expecting a good answer if you have any idea on this.

Thanks for your support

Hello! Yes, you can definitely connect the SONOFF basic to Node-RED.

In fact, we have a dedicated guide about that subject that you can access the Build a Home Automation System course: https://rntlab.com/module-1/welcome-to-build-a-home-automation-system/

If you download the main course folder, inside you’ll find the “How to use SONOFF with Node-RED guide”.

Can you find it and try that?

Thanks for your time!

Thanks rui for your answer.  But I am not talking about sonoff basic.  Sonoff has many verity of stylish switches, lamp holders etc.  So is it possible to reflash those items or any platform available to connect directly without firmware modification.

I don’t think so… By default they work with their eWeLink app, but you can’t integrate them with Home Assistant or Node-RED without modifying the firmware (at least I never saw that done)…
