i have a Espressif esp32-wroom-32 and on the back it says esp32s
i cant seem to find any reference to it in the board manager, i have tried different boards Node32s , Nodemcu-32s any help would be appreciated

Hi.
Try selecting ESP32 Wrover Module or ESP32 Dev Module.
