I had the problem with a weak WIFI connection, that I will resolve using an external antenna.

Now, maybe I know why I had this problem. I read somewhere that close to the antenna connection on the ESP32 cam board  there is a kind of a jumper box, where not a jumper but a resistor is used to choose and connect to the internal or external antenna. In my case the resistor was connected towards the external antenna connector, so the internal antenna was a loose printed wire.

I am not going to try to connect to the internal antenna because I do not like to solder this size SMD resistors and I ordered an antenna already. But do you know if this is true, because it is good to know in case the result of the ext. antenna is giving a bad result.
