when i enter the id and password wrong, i should get an authentication error, but instead, the logon screen is redisplayed without the password.  All browsers act the same.  could I have a setting somewhere that causes this to happen?  I uploaded the sample code, changed the said and password.  I can log on, but cannot get the error message.

So, after you enter a wrong password, do you see a blank screen? What happens when you refresh the web page. Can you try to login again?

instead of a blank screen, It returns to the login dialog with the password blanked out.  This seems to be normal operation for logging in.  I’m on  mac, so maybe the  browsers act differently from what the tutorial says.
Reloading the page starts me all over with a refreshed login screen.  Then the error is repeatable.
I’m not really having any problem logging in, and the sketch is working normally, so I can probably just ignore this situation.  I just hate not being able to understand why things don’t work the way they are supposed to.

Oh I see. Basically, it should print the error message, but the web page reloads very quickly after a failed attempt and it reloads the page with login screen.
It does print the error message, but it’s too quickly.
I hope that makes sense!
