So I have several Wemos D1R1 boards lying around and want to make a mail box notification web server(You Got Mail). My question here is how or what is the best way to distance the boards from house to mailbox (700’) . I know that there better boards to accomplish this but I would like to use what I currently have . I guess what I am asking is if there is a way I can just walk down to the mailbox box and mark out where I would have to put additional boards to get the signal to reach that distance. Thanks

Hi.
There isn’t a quick way to do that.
You’ll have to place the board where you want and then check if you get a signal. If you don’t, try to get closer to the router until you have a point where you can get a signal.

Sara

Pretty much what I thought, was hoping that there was something like a distance device. What I thought was a device that would monitor the signal as I walked down the driveway.

You can get the RSSI of the signal.
You can print it on an OLED display so that you can watch it without being connected to the computer.
