I am aware of a memory extension module which connects the ESP8266 to an SD Card. The application i have in mind requires its use. Is there any place where I can find the software and hardware advice to attach and use this module.

We have a tutorial that might help. But, it is for the ESP32.
Nonetheless, it might be useful to try to get started.
