Hi: I’m working with the Firebase ESP32 and Rui’s and Sara’s new book on connecting from anywhere. I have not yet deployed the code but I have it all working with the two on-off buttons turning things on and off. The BME280 gives the correct temps, pressure, and humidity. The message reads correctly on the OLED screen. I cannot, however, change the message using the http://localhost:5000 The message will highlight but I cannot make changes via the keyboard. I can make them if I go to firebase.google.com on that screen. What am I going wrong or is it not possible to change the message via the keyboard on http://localhost:5000? I’m afraid to deploy until I know this is corrected. Any ideas for what could be wrong and how do I fix it?
Hi.
Make sure you’ve saved the right JavaScript file (that can handle the message) and that you’ve done a hard refresh on your browser (CTRL+F5 on PC, or Cmd+Shift+R on Mac).
You can deploy your app and see if something changes.
Regards,
Sara
Hi Sara:
I’ll bet you folks hate to be bothered with people like me who have so many questions. The book was certainly worth it but you are putting in a lot of extra time. I promise to buy another book later.
In any case, I have the firebase deployed and it is working for the BME380 and the PWM and the on-off buttons. I can also change the message from my smartphone.
Sara, you are a genius and I truly appreciate your efforts for me. I wish you a most happy Christmas season.
Thanks.
Bob
