Good afternoon all,
Last night I tried to follow the tutorial directions for the installation of the ESP32 files by Git GUI and get.exe commands.
The Git GUI installed fine and seemed to run fine, but never got to the point where it was downloading files. I never saw “Creating working directory…” as shown on page 23 of the PDF “Learn ESP32 with Arduino IDE” nor did I see the progress bar move off of 0%. My work-around for this was simply to use Git manually, using my browser to go to the Git webpage, downloading the zip file, and unzipping to the proper directory.
This seemed to work fine – when I opened the folder as directed by step 5 on page 23, I saw the same files as shown in step 6 on page 23.
However, when I went to run get.exe, it would not progress past downloading the xtensa-esp32-elf-win32 zip file. I never got the done message, nor did it ever extract anything. I waited almost an hour until the battery on my laptop ran out. I will try get.exe again this evening and will report back. If that fails, is there a manual way to download and install the extensa and esptool zip files?
thanks much,
Ben
