Sorry. I am new joiner. Looking like industrial automation concept for home automation general requirement. As an example, switches and sensors act as the inputs. Ligt, fan and appliance are outputs. Planning to eliminate traditional wiring standard. So switches and other inputs wired or comminicate to the arduno or esp8216 directly.

For industrial applications that require a very reliable home automation system, it’s probably recommended using wired connections (Ethernet). Wi-Fi is reliable, but it’s not exactly ideal for critical applications. It’s better to keep wired connections.

The ESP8266 is a great device and the Raspberry Pi that can used and are very reliable, but at the moment for a final architecture I would use a wired connection…
