Home Automation Project and Google AIY

Is there an easy way (or if not easy, then at least a documented way) to integrate [any/some/all of] your home automation projects with the Google AIY? I’m not that experienced with this area and am slowly working through the courses but I think it would be a great way to top things off, by putting the AIY in the mix and bringing it all together with an AI that responds to my (automation) needs. My Google AIY was a gift last Christmas and it just sits there telling me the weather and the time and an occasional odd fact. I hope that make sense.

Hello, I’ve never used Google AIY (the last time I checked I don’t think it was available to Portugal, but I might be wrong). My projects don’t really integrate with that platform, because they use their unique library with specific commands.

Have you tried their examples?

Yes, I can blink an led and tried (unsuccessfully) to get internet radio, but projects I’ve seen are not very useful to me. Integrating temperature and turning real lights (or my coffee pot) on and off is useful. I was/am hoping to learn enough through these courses to be able to do that

What do you mean? Which example are you having problems with?
I might be able to help if you post the exact error that you’re having…

Thank you, but the issues I was/am having are with the AIY. I’m sure I’m doing something wrong in the programming (python). I got frustrated several months back and stopped working with it and now it just sits in its cardboard box, laughing at me in its little AI mind. I’m hoping to learn enough here, through your courses, to figure things out.

I’ve send to you an email answering your other question, you can reply there via email.
If you get any error with a project, you can post here and I’ll try to help if I know the answer…
You can always go back, it might have improved and now it’s easier to use, for example!
