Hello All
A topic on which a lot of information is to be found on the internet, but on which I didn’t find a clear answer up till now…(maybe it’s me….)

The board : ESP32 LILY GO T CALL SIM800L 4MB [Q103] with charging ic IP5306.

There is no battery connected (no need for me).

My question :

Is connecting through the USB-C connector really the only way to power this board ?

And if I connect a power source to the USB-C connector, do I need to worry about the

“CC1” “CC2” connections, and the charging protocols ? (and I mean, to the board,

no batteries involved in my case here)

Can it  be powered through the 3V3 pin ?

Who can enlighten me ?

Thank you all very much !

Ron

Hi.
It can be powered via the USB-C entrance, or using the battery connector at the back, or via the 3V3 and GND pins.

I’m not sure what you mean when you’re referring to the CC1 and CC2  connections…

Thanks,  Sara, for your answer !
This is something I found about “CC1 and CC2” on Silicon Labs :
For the USB Type-C solution, two pins on the connector, CC1 and CC2, are used to establish and manage the Source-to-Sink connection.
Functionally, the configuration channel is used to serve the following purposes.
• Detect attach of USB ports, e.g. a Source to a Sink
• Resolve cable orientation and twist connections to establish USB data bus routing
• Establish data roles between two attached ports
• Discover and configure VBUS: USB Type-C Current modes or USB Power Delivery
• Configure VCONN
• Discover and configure optional Alternate and Accessory modes
I think I´ll keep it simple, and use the 3V3 pin 😉
Thanks again

I don’t think you need to worry about that description.

I’ll mark this issue as resolved. If you need further help, you just need to open a new question in our forum.
