Hello,
I am going through the course “Learn ESP32 with Arduino IDE – 2nd Edition”.  The course has the section “Programming ESP32 with Atom Text Editor and PlatformIO IDE”.
To my understanding, Atom Text Editor is not relevant anymore and the project is not staying alive for much longer.

Considering that Visual Studio Code is becoming the most popular free opensource programming editor for many languages, I wonder if  you have instructions for Studio Code and PlatformIO IDE?
Thank you,

Hi.
Yes.
You can find some of our VS Code tutorials here:

  • Getting Started with VS Code and PlatformIO IDE for ESP32 and ESP8266 (Windows, Mac OS X, Linux Ubuntu)
  • VS Code Workspaces with ESP32 and ESP8266 Projects

Next year, we’ll update the eBook and we’ll replace that section with VS Code.

I hope this helps.
Regards,
Sara
