It appears that ngrok  connection uses HTTP instead of HTTPS so when I try to log on to the ESP32 server the message “your connection to this site is not secure” is displayed and will not let me log in. I tried MS explorer, Firefox and Opera with the same results. Even backing up on unit 6 with user and password on my local network gives the same results. Is there any way around this.?

Hello Charles,

  • Can you access locally your ESP IP Address? For example, if the IP is followed by the port number: 192.168.1.75:8888

If you can access it locally, are you still running the ngrok tunnel?
or did you close ngrok before trying the URLs?
Thanks for your patience!

Rui thanks for getting back to me. I went back and redid assigning password, changing port to 8888 and rerunning ngrok. It worked. I am not sure what I did but thanks again.

If any detail is missing, it will not work. Thanks for letting me know and I’m glad you made it work.
Regards,
Rui
