Has anyone successfully installed/connected the ESP32 board/CYD board to an Apple Silicon Macbook Air.
All looks well but no com port is visible on the Arduino IDE, Testing the installation, module 1.6.
A seach on the internet has produced the statement “MacOS 10.13 or newer does not require a CH340 driver to be downloaded and installed. Can any one confirm this?
Any advice most welcome. Regards Mike Paddison
Hi.
i don’t have that computer to try it out.
but, I think its best to try to install the drivers.
That might be the problem.
Also check that you’re using a USB cable that can transfer data.

Sara,
I dont know what happened to my earlier reply, so I will summarise my earlier response.
In summary I now have the ESP32/CYD Board sucessfully connected to my silicon Macbook Air.
The issue was one of connectors and cables and no instruction from the supplier.
The ESP32/CYD board was purchased from AITRIP EU via Amazon. This board has an extra USBC connector fitted between the TX/RX and Micro USB connectors An appropriate USBA/USBC cable was also supplied.
However the use of the USBC connector and cable would not connect the CYD board to my Macbook Air where as the USB Micro cable and connector worked first time.
Thank you for your advice.
I look forward to exploring Module Two and beyond
Kind Regards
Mike
Ok.
Great.
I’m glad you were able to make it work now.
I’ll mark this issue as resolved. If you need further help, you just need to open a new question in our forum.
