LOST usb conection

All of the sudden port is grayed out in the IDE  and can’t connect
Idid blink and WIFI Scan no problem.

Seems when GPIO16 is hooked up thats when I lose the port

On my board the pin is called RX2 is this not also GPIO16

What peripherals do you have connected to GPIO 16?
Are you using ESP32 or ESP8266?

Do you have a USB hub connected to your computer? 
Maybe there is an issue with your USB ports?
Have you tried with another ESP32? Did you get the same result?
