It would be nice if you could show a practical way in which to use these projects and a wiring diagram for such application. I completed the first project now how can I use this to turn on my lights?

Hi.

For that, you would need to wire a relay to control AC or higher DC voltages that control other appliances.
Controlling a relay is the same as controlling an LED: https://randomnerdtutorials.com/guide-for-relay-module-with-arduino/
When you are making projects that are connected to mains voltage, you really need to know what you are doing, otherwise you may shock yourself. This is a serious topic, make sure you’re familiar with dealing with mains voltage before wiring any circuit or ask someone who knows to help you out.

Regards,
Sara
