I am following your “Home automation using raspberry pi” course tutorial. I have created micro SD card with raspbain lite OS also installed angry IP scanner but unable to find ip address of raspberrypi using angry IP scanner. Is there any other way to get ip address of raspberrypi. I am using Windows 10 OS.
Did you set properly the Network properties? Can you take a look at this blog post that shows in detail how to add Ethernet to your Pi through your laptop: https://anwaarullah.wordpress.com/2013/08/12/sharing-wifi-internet-connection-with-raspberry-pi-through-lanethernet-headless-mode/
Hi Prasad, Thank you for posting your question here! Do you have an Ethernet cable connected to your Pi?
Yes Rui, I have connected raspberrypi to my laptop through ethernet cable and power supply with to usb port and running angry ip scanner on my laptop but anyhow not getting raspberrypi ip address
You should connect your RPi to your home router, so your RPi as an ethernet connection in your network. Can you try to connect to your router and run the Angry IP scanner again? Thanks!
Power your Raspberry Pi again and look at your board in the corner next to the SD/Micro SD card slot. When you power your Raspberry Pi, do you see a green LED blinking and red LED on?
Red light is on continusoly and green light blinks initially very fast and bright but after 2sec it is blinking but it is not that bright.I have HDMI cable but I don’t have HDMI monitor so I can’t see it.I will arrange if want please tell me procedure to connect to HDMI monitor. Once I tried to connect but nothing visible on monitor do we need to any setting to see on monitor.
If your green led blinks, it means you’ve flashed the microSD card properly and your Pi is booting up. Can you try the following procedure with your pi powered off: 1) Connect the HDMI cable to your Pi. 2) Power up your Pi. 3) Set the source of your monitor to that HDMI port
Rui, I will explain procedure what I did. I have done all this on my laptop which is connected to router using wifi. 1.Created SD card using image. 2.Run ipconfig command on my laptop to get ethernet address(169.254.63.104).I had put that address(169.254.63.102) which is in the range of laptop ethernet ip in sd card’s cmdline.txt and then inserted sd card in raspberrypi. Now raspberrypi is connected to my laptop using ethernet.Lights are blinking properly as you said. 3.But when i ping with sd card ip which I put in cmdline txt I have getting error as unreacheble ping 169.254.63.102 reply from 169.254.63.104 host unreachable as error
Thanks rui, your blog post solved my problem. I have one more query. Right now I connected raspberry pi to laptop using Ethernet cable and laptop is connected to internet using WiFi.It’s working. But I want to connect raspberrypi to my desktop which is connected to router using Ethernet port.No WiFi on desktop.I tried to connect internet using USB WiFi dongel on desktop pc but getting problem.(it is showing connected but when I try to surf it shows bad connection in browser and after 1-2 min gets disconnected)Is there any other way to connect desktop PC to raspberry pi ??
I’m glad the blog post solved your issue. Have you considered connecting a WiFi dongle to your Raspberry Pi? Which WiFi dongle do you have?
It would simplify that process tremendously. I personally never tried to do what you are looking for. But I assume that it should work regardless you use Ethernet or WiFi in your desktop PC.
I have wifi dongle. I bought raspberry pi from following link: https://www.crazypi.com/buy-raspberry-pi-2-complete-starter-kit-india
