Raspberry Pi won't reboot after "sudo poweroff" command

Just getting started. Can boot up the Pi and see it on my network, and can log in, and can get it to “sudo poweroff”. But, once it powers off, it does not respond to the “sudo reboot” command. The Putty window reports an inactive connection. I have to unplug the power supply and start it and the Putty program again to get back to the log in screen, Seems like reasonable behavior, but the RN module says it should reply with the same powerdown message and then provide the prompt again. Am I doing something wrong?

Hi Stew,
That’s exactly what should happen. The Putty window will always be inactive (whether it’s a poweroff or reboot). With the poweroff, you’ll have to unplug and plug the power supply.
where did you see that information?
Thanks!
