hello, i tried to power a Raspberry Pi 5 whith a 3S Lipo et a DC/DC converter. the a output voltage is fixed to 5.1V but i can go up to 5.5v… tested on table with a power resistor of 1 ohm. the USB-C and power cable is rated = 100w.
Nonetheless, the message “This powersupply is not capable of supplying 5A, power to peripherals will be restricted”
where is the snake?
Can somebody propose a solution to mitigate this problem ?

Hello Sara,
The message is seen on the display connected to the HDMI port of the Pi 5, positioned just below the IP address on the up right position on the screen, just in case it is battery powered, not with the AC/DC adapter !
The power managment of the Pi 5 should rely on the data regarding the voltage and current capabilities sent by the adapter (from 15v/1.8A to 5.1V/5A) …
I think this problem should have been resolved because i should not the only person concerned (existing hardware or solution to mitigate the problem)

I’m sorry. I misunderstood your answer.
That error mentions that your power supply is not supporting enough amperage to drive peripherals. You have to double-check your power supply.
I saw some similar issues on the Raspberry Pi forum, but they were referring to the power adapter: https://forums.raspberrypi.com/viewtopic.php?t=365878 so I’m not sure.
I haven’t faced that issue before and I couldn’t find much information about it.
Maybe it’s better if you try asking on the Raspberry Pi forum.

“It’s not a problem because you’ve just answered my question by confirming, as I was able to verify, that USB-C power can only be achieved with a supply that takes into account the PMIC protocol. However, a battery power source + DC/DC converter providing 5V connected to GPIO pins 2 or 4 works perfectly, provided that peripherals such as I2C devices are powered directly from this converter.”
The issue can now be considered as resolved
