I’m on a Dell / windows laptop, proceeding with the 1st module of the “Building web servers course”
Installed OK the Arduino IDE ver. 1.8.19 as recommended.  During the esp32 install via Boards manager, my Sophos antivirus popup said that this was a threat and then cleaned it. Copied this error message from the bottom window:
Error downloading https://raw.githubusercontent.com/espressif/arduino-esp32/ghpages/ package_esp32_index.json
I continued anyhow and connected my DOIT Devkit V1 to Comm9 and opened an example sketch to upload.
Selected “wifiscan”  and noticed that it took over 4 minutes to verify before uploading.  Sketch worked OK but concerned the Sophos CLEAN may have affected something.  Any clues?

Update.  Uninstalled sophos antivirus, rebooted board from Board Manager. Restart IDE and reinstalled Board Manager ESP32 and no errors in IDE Window. Verification of Wifiscan sketch much faster and upload successful with long press of esp32 “boot” button.
So all okay except I’m reluctant to reinstall Sophos again so might have to depend upon Windows Defender for protection.   Regards Jim.

Hi Jim.
I’m not familiar with that antivirus software.
Maybe there is an option for “exceptions”? Like to tell your antivirus to not check anything related to the Arduino IDE?
