Stepper motors

Hi,
Has anyone tried to control a stepper motor using ESP323 and an A4988 driver board?
I have one connected, with a Nema 17 motor, but the motor rotates when the STEP pin on the A4988 board is not connected, and it stops when I try to drive it from the ESP32.
If I connect the STEP pin directly to the +ve or -ve rails, the motor stops.
Cheers.

Hello Graham, I hope you are doing well and thanks for asking. Unfortunately I don’t have any tutorials on that exact subject… To be honest I also never used that module, so I’m not sure how it works…

Hi Rui,
Thanks forgetting back to me.
I gave up and switched everything off last night.
This morning, when I switched it back on,it worked perfectly.
I have no idea what was going on. Maybe the power cycle has reset something.
