I just took delivery today (Thur. Dec. 2, 2025) of 2 LILYGO 868/915MHz Model LORA32 boards (Silkscreen has “T3_V1.6.1”).
After quite a bit of research, I think I may have bought the wrong ones (older version)!
The MAKER ADVISOR shows boards where some have Version 2.1 indicated and some don’t!
I wonder if there is any way to tell if I bought the right boards without having to go through the entire tutorial?
I bought mine on AMAZON. I can’t find “V2.1” anywhere on the board — that’s why I’m concerned.
Meanwhile, I’ll go ahead and try the tutorial.

Hi.
There is no wrong board.
You just need to make sure you have the right pinout for the board you get.
Then, the tutorials should be compatible by adjusting the pins on the code, if needed.

Sara

Sara,
Just as you’ve indicated, I did not buy a wrong board!
I did as recommended, in the tutorial, after I posted the concern.
I carefully checked to see what pins my board uses (it was not so easy finding the correct pinouts) and then I went through the code changing what I thought was necessary and guess what — it worked!
My board had no RST for the OLED — it has to be done with software.
I had pin changes for both the LoRa module and the OLED device.
Also, I struggled a bit trying to determine what BOARD I should pick in the Arduino IDE!
As you well know, there are many, many boards out there and some of the sellers provide no technical support, so we have to be very aggressive in our pursuit of info.
I feel bad for the beginners, who are so disappointed when it doesn’t work “out of the box”.
I guess that’s why we have this forum and the other sources of info via the web.
I went so far as to email the guy who developed the code for the board I used, he works for the Chinese company who manufactures the board. He was very helpful with my question about why I don’t have a RST pin for the OLED on my board.
Thanks again for your excellent help, as usual!

That’s great.
I’m glad you were able to adapt the project to your specific board.
Can I close this issue?

Sara
