I hope to follow the course on my MacStudio computer.  It has the M1 chip and Monterey OS.  I have a “Parallels” free Window 11 V.M. based upon a 64-bit operating system, ARM-based processor.  So before I start downloading Visual code Studio and Platform IO are there any suggestions as to the Pros and Cons of either Operating system?
I am 70 years old, retired electronics tech. and I am familiar with Arduino IDE.  I have time restraints in my life and I don’t want to get bogged down with software issues that take hours to resolve.  I also have a cheap Windows10 Dell Laptop I can use but it is limited in RAM and Drive space, cpu speed etc.  Prefer the Mac OS but some software seems to be better supported on Windows OS.  Your advice would be appreciated.  I am not on Facebook as yet as I don’t like Mark Z.

Hi Jim.

VS Code should work similarly both on Windows and Mac OS. We tested the installation in both operating systems and everything works fine.

I’m more familiar with Windows, so that’s the operating system I use.
But, if you’re more familiar with MacOS, you should be able to follow without any issues.

I would say it’s better to use the operating system you’re more familiar with.
If you have any doubts along the way, I also have a Mac M1 that I can experiment and test with.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Regards,
Sara

Thanks Sara.  I only became a Mac user 10 + years ago because I was fed up with constant buggy issues with Windows OS, even though  XP gui is still my favourite.  I was spending more time resolving Windows issues than using the software I had paid for. So I guess I will give Monterey on M1 a go.  I subscribed to your YouTube channel last night and watched a few old videos.  (Instead of watching Startrek episodes).  All good.  Thanks.  Regards Jim

Thanks.
It’s been a long time since we’ve uploaded a new video.
We don’t have the time for creating new videos now :\

I’ll close this issue. If you need any help throughout the eBook, you just need to open a new question in our forum.

Regards,
Sara
