I purchased a few ESP32 DEVKIT V1 DOIT boards from Banggood via the Where to buy the ESP32 DOIT DEVKIT V1 Board link in the Getting Started with ESP32 module on Dec 29th.
They arrived yesterday and I got an updated version of the board (same as the photo on Banggood) with 6 extra pins 😉
From GPIO13 and GPIO15 and up the board is the same but below those are:
SD2——D0
SD3——S01
CMD——SD0
GND——CLK
VIN——3V3

Hi Tek!
Thanks for letting me know. I was aware of the update. I’ve also received 3 boards with the new pinout. You’ll probably never use those pins (the ones marked with a *), because they are connected to the SPI chip that is integrated in the ESP32.
I’ve updated the Intro module with the new pinout (and the other Units).
https://rntlab.com/module-1/introducing-esp32/
You can download the new pinout for ESP32 DOIT here:

  • Printable version
  • Image version 30 GPIOs
  • Image version 36 GPIOs

When wiring any of the circuits presented always double-check that you’re connecting the pin to the right GPIO (not the pin number). Future course Units will be done with the new ESP32 pinout.
Regards,
Rui

Excellent thanks.
Too bad the didn’t change the version number printed on the backside of the board for the 36 pin board.
Cheers,
TM

BTW I’m enjoying the new ESP32 units.
Looking forward to some that use MQQT to pub-sub to a RPi.  I have a specific application for control of a solar PV system, battery bank and 48V rack mount UPS system (as an inverter).

I couldn’t agree more… Keeping the same version makes it very confusing.
I’m currently working on the basics for the ESP32. I’ll explore in depth how to build a web server that controls outputs and web server to display sensor readings.
After that, I’ll use the ESP32 BLE and show different applications (a very requested topic).
Finally, we can start building standalone projects with the ESP32. In one of those projects, I definitely plan to use MQTT with Node-RED or with a free cloud service like https://io.adafruit.com/

Sorry for reviving an old post like this.
But has anyone ever found a library for a schematics software, specifically EAGLE, for the 36 GPIO DOIT ESP32? Haven’t a hard time even finding any mention of this board outside here and a few other forums.

I’ve never found for Eagle, but I only use KiCad… So, I’m not sure if it exists or not…
