Hi,

bought this e-book, and was very surprised that it said that Thonny cannot upload the Micropython on the board.
“Unlike uPyCraft IDE and Mu
Editor, Thonny IDE doesn’t come with a tool to install MicroPython firmware on
your board. So, you need another program to do that. If”

Surprise … I use block-based programming in Coderdojo’s (Makeblock, Pictoblox) for generating py code , and use Thonny mostly for setting the Micropython firmware on the ESP32 boards, (and while there could also be used for running the block-generated Python code.)

ESPTools is imbedded in the Windows Thonny 3.3.10 I use , and firmware uploading is under “Tools” , “Options” ,”Interpreter”, “Install or Update Firmware”

And 3.3.10 is from 2021/05/18 , by far not the latest.

Hi.
Thanks for letting me know.
At the time, I didn’t know that option was available.
Meanwhile, I always use that option to load the firmware.
I thought I had updated the eBook with that information but, it seems I didn’t.

I need to update that eBook soon…
I’ll be out of the office until the end of the month. I’ll try to update it and relaunch a new version when I come back.

Let me know if I can help you with any other issues…

Regards,
Sara
