Use sms(phone number) in IFTTT email field

I am trying to put the following in the email field in the ESP wifi program at the IFTTT , 540xxxxxxx@txt.att.net
it works on th PLCs that I use, wonder why not working here ?
Putting in the email address works fine, but I am trying to alert by SMS as well.

Hello Greg, where are you entering that email address? In the IFTTT applet field? You’re basically using an SMS to phone service, right?

I added the ingredient before the telenumber. Put the telenumber first and it works fine
