Sara, Rui,
Have you ever thought of starting a Discord server to bring the Random Nerd Tutorials community together?
Hello Stéphane, I’ll definitely consider using Discord in the upcoming months, but right now I’m already having a hard time dealing with all those communication channels. I definitely enjoy Discord and I’m a apart of many communities there, I’ll hope to launch a server this year when I can be sure to have enough time to manage it.
Regards,
Rui
Hello Stéphane! I hope you are doing well.
Thank you so much for your feedback, but unfortunately we don’t have time to manage other channel for discussion. We already have:
- Emails
- Forum
- Facebook Group
- Youtube comments
- Blog comments
Currently the best way to interact is in the Facebook group (I’m not a fan of Facebook), but we already have many members there). Thanks!
Rui
Hi Rui!
Thank you for your answer and sorry for the delay in mine…
I understand very well that it’s difficult to be present on all fronts. And time is running out for all of us.
Nevertheless, to use it daily with other communities, I find Discord much more suitable for exchange. Discord can benefit from more instantaneity between simultaneously connected members, and the integrated search engine allows you to quickly find past exchanges. Multiple rooms can be set up, so it’s easy to create specific channels to record recent releases of your latest tutorials, videos, books or announcements. Moreover, this type of publication can be automated with bots.
Discord also allows you to post code snippets with syntax highlighting for C++, Python, JavaScript, HTML or CSS.
It is also possible to interact orally if necessary between members who would like to do so occasionally.
In my opinion, this is very complementary with the forum and the YouTube channel.
I’m not a fan of Facebook either, so I’ll skip this possibility, which has too many negative aspects.
Thank you for your answer, and I look forward to reading you soon on the forum.
