Hello, I just bought the ESP32 Cam card to evaluate its use in the industrial sector. Unfortunately I have encountered several drawbacks. Looking around the web it seems to me that the level of reliability is not high. Is this only in the setting phase or does this unreliability risk recurring also during future use?
I ask the courtesy to answer sincerely based on your experiences and knowledge.
Thanks.

Hi Antonio.
It will depend on the camera application and the project itself.
What drawbacks are you referring to? Are those critical to your project? If so, you should consider other alternatives.
For what applications do you want to use it?

Sara

Generally you don’t use the dev board in your finished product. They’re just used to get your code working. Once you’re happy with coding you would move to designing your PCB and enclosure options for industrial use.
Note that the ESP32 is really new and still evolving. If you want proven reliability you may want to look at something like the Microchip PIC. I have a couple of dev boars and peripherals from https://www.mikroe.com/.

Thanks Sara for the prompt reply,
I was referring to the fact that the ESP32 Cam card, despite being very interesting for its potential, seems to present a certain fragility that I was able to experience personally in trying to ran the examples and that I also found from the answers in the forum, where many issues have not been resolved. So for now, not having much time to devote to it, I have decided to abandon this solution and use another one. In the future maybe I could try again. Thanks anyway for your availability. I have to close the question?

Hi Antonio.
That’s a good decision.
I’ll mark this issue as resolved.
If you need further help, you just need to open a new question in our forum.

Hi all,
I’m sorry for re-opening this thread (I just bought the whole bundle of cources and decided to check the forum to see what is there 🙂 )
@Antonio
You can check the company that produces the freedombox board (published at debian site) – olimex.
They manifacture some of the boards with industrial temperature grade -40  +85C (e.g. ESP32-EVB). However, as far as I know esp32-cam is with commercial range only – above 0C
