Hi there
I have been following along the E-book and it’s been great so far.
However, I registered a free domain (Freenom), added the Cloudflare name Server, and entered my public IP (for the Pi on my network at home.)
I followed your instructions, but I get an error from Cloudflare when I try to add the hostname page to my tunnel:
“Error: You cannot use this API for domains with a .cf, .ga, .gq, .ml, .tk TLD (top-level domain. To configure the DNS settings for this domain, use the Cloudflare Dashboard)”

I’m not sure which DNS settings to change on my dashboard, and I cannot change my Freenom domain extension without having to pay for one (e.g .com, .org, .info etc)

Any suggestions?
Regards
Sven

Hi,

I’m not sure exactly because I just tested with .com domain. I didn’t know it didn’t work with those domains.
But, I think you can still configure it from the command line. See the following resources:

  • https://developers.cloudflare.com/cloudflare-one/connections/connect-apps/install-and-setup/tunnel-guide/local/

I’ll be out of the office for the next few days. But, I can test .tk domains when I came back.
Just let me know if you can do it yourself or if you need further help.

Regards,
Sara
